KC-area native and proud Jayhawk. Here I share personal stories, photos and videos. If you're looking for a post from my previous website, I still aggregate my content on Tumblr.
Something similar to this happened to me once at a job (being unknowingly "tested," not having a dramatic conversation about Paris). In my situation it obviously wasn't created for a reality show, but I definitely have empathy for this gay.
A lot of people in the social media industry know that Southwest Airlines has a top-notch Web presence. They're not focused on the cash that social media may bring in, but on creating positive interactions with their customers and giving them all the information they need - along with fun information about the company.
I talked with Christi Day, who manages their Twitter and Facebook accounts (along with some other networks) about what life is like working for Southwest.
Part 1: Focuses on the company's social media strategy.
Part 2: Focuses on Christi's daily schedule and responsibilities.
Last fall I did a video blog at the Wizards playoff game vs. the Crew. A few months ago, the Wizards contacted me and asked if I'd like to come to a game or two this summer and do the same thing.
The provided me with a press pass, which gave me access to the field level and press box, for Saturday's game against the L.A. Galaxy (hello, David Beckham).
Jake and I went and had a lot of fun watching the game from different parts of Community America Ballpark.
Full disclosure: the only thing I received from the Wizards was a press pass. I paid for all of my beverages and was even hassled - quite a bit, actually - by security (even though I followed all of the "rules" perfectly).
There were some other local bloggers there for the same purpose (make sure you check out my good buddy Ramsey's stuff). It's good to see a pro sports franchise embracing the power of blogging, even though my experience wasn't all rainbows and unicorns. It's definitely a step in the right direction.
ESPN has amateur video of Pacman Jones at a scrip club the same night that he allegedly beat a stripper and then was involved in a triple shooting in the parking lot. The reporter actually says "Jones then showered the strippers with money, a strip club ritual known as 'making it rain.'"
The video also features other celebrities like Jermaine Dupri and Nelly (is he still a celebrity?) showering the ladies with up to $40,000 in $1 bills.
In the aftermath, Pacman provided the planet with one of the best audio clips of all time:
Some people may find the images in this video offensive, because it's taken at a scrip club.
More evidence that professional athletes need mandatory life coaches. It's ridiculon.
